Economic Yearbook of the Stara Zagora Region
Yordan NikolovDear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Business representatives, Guests, Friends and Partners of Stara Zagora District,

I would like to express my satisfaction with the publication of the Economic Yearbook of the Stara Zagora Region for 2010, which promotes the latest achievements, the current economic indices and the potential of the district economy, as well as the wealth of its cultural and historical heritage and places of interest.
I hope that this year’s issue will once again help the Stara Zagora District to attract the interest of investors and guests from the country and abroad. I am convinced that the Economic Yearbook of the Stara Zagora Region, which has established itself as a necessary and effective link between business partners, non-government organizations and various institutions in the region, contributes significantly to popularization, both in the country and abroad, of the opportunities the district offers.
I am deeply convinced that only through partnerships and co-operation shall we be able to keep up the good development rates of the Stara Zagora District this year, too, a year which according to economic experts and analysts is expected to be a hard one. Let us join our efforts for creating an attractive environment for investors and an effective and transparent administration.
I believe that we shall work together to establish Stara Zagora as an administrative centre of a modern and highly developed district, both culturally and economically.

Yordan Nikolov
Stara Zagora District Governor

Svetlin Tanchev
Dear ladies and gentlemen,

It is my pleasure and privilege to congratulate all authors and readers of the 2010 Economic Yearbook of the Stara Zagora Region, issued by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Stara Zagora.
Stara Zagora is the largest municipality in the region with the leading position in terms of economic development, culture and education. It is also attractive to investors, not only because of its advantageous geographic location, but also because of its human resources potential. The intelligent, capable and educated citizens of Stara Zagora are its most valuable capital.
I am confident that the Stara Zagora Municipality will keep its positive rate of growth and development despite these difficult times of financial crisis. As of 2010, we plan to attract investors’ and manufacturers’ attention with the newly established Industrial Zone in the village of Elenino situated near the district centre Stara Zagora.
I wish all readers of the new edition of the Economic Yearbook a lot of professional success and good business results throughout 2010.
And may business and local government always stand together and unite their efforts to ensure higher living standards for the citizens of Stara Zagora District!

Prof. Svetlin Tanchev
Mayor of Stara Zagora
