Manufacture of Fabricated Metal Products

Net Sales Revenues – BGN 237 mln.
Profit – BGN 23 mln.

Approximately 300 companies are active in the sub-sector Manufacture of Fabricated Metal Products in the Stara Zagora District. Their total net sales revenues amount to BGN 213 mln., which is a growth of 33% as compared to the previous year. These results are due mainly to the activity of the two leading companies in the sub-sector, i.e. Energoremont – Galabovo AD and Metalik AD, which are engaged in the planned and emergency repair works of the thermal power plants in the region, as well as in production of spare parts, metal components and unique equipment for these power plants. The two companies have common share holders (Metalik AD holds 89% of the shares of Energoremont – Galabovo AD) and are both represented by Dechko Kolev. The profit earned by the companies in the sub-sector is traditionally high, which is also due to the activity of these two companies.
Bulmetal OOD – Gurkovo is a major Bulgarian manufacturer of a wide range of metal packs and packaging of various types and dimensions for the food, chemical, dairy and cosmetic industries. The total annual net sales revenues of the company, including those of its subsidiary Bulmetal Trading EOOD, amount to nearly BGN 27 mln., which is BGN 3 mln. less than the NSR for the previous year. The company uses imported raw materials for its production process, but still manages to keep its market positions both in Bulgaria and abroad. The decline of the construction sector in 2009 lead to decreased demand for paints and varnishes respectively for the containers produced in Gurkovo. The reduced volumes were partially compensated by orders from the Food Industry. Bulmetal OOD is the only Bulgarian company using an entirely computer controlled 4-color UV ink printer for metals, which guarantees high product quality. The company is the major employer in Gurkovo, providing jobs for 400 people.
The world economic crises caused the main subsidiaries of Holding Zagora OOD to reduce substantially their output volumes. The forging plant Preskov AD and Progress AD foundry are among the best equipped factories in South-Eastern Europe and their products are targeted mostly to the EU market. Their products are intended for application in the manufacture of machinery and the automobile industries, sectors most affected by the economic crisis, which resulted eventually in a cut down of traditional orders for Stara Zagora companies.
